Rediscovering Purpose

Those of you that follow this page may have noticed there has not been much activity of late. That has been intentional. After 6 months of creating a brand, designing a logo, and having a website designed, all while buying a house, selling a house, moving, overseeing a renovation, and working full time, I took a break.

It has been a productive period of rest, reflection, and new direction. During this downtime, I have been increasing my commitment to reading the Bible, praying, and being open to where God would lead me. As always, my church and its tremendous pastor, Jeff Stimpson, has been a source of inspiration in this pursuit.

A recent message at church was titled “Encounter Christ & Obey” and the key takeaways were that sometimes what God says to do will not make sense to us as humans and that God has called us to follow His will, even if it is unsafe. The sermon concluded with an exhortation that our everyday job as Christians is to “open up our mouth and be bold to speak the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” who came to Earth to die for the sins of mankind and rose again, defeating death so that those that have put their faith in Him will have eternal life.

Hearing this message prompted a period of intense prayer about how I could fulfill God’s will with my life and this site. I believe I received the answer the week of Christmas when I was awakened very early in the morning with a calling to use this site to provide devotionals that share passages from God’s word, with my take on how the passage applies to us as modern men.

For those of you that are followers of Jesus, I pray this will help deepen your relationship with Christ. For those of you that may not yet know Jesus as your savior, my sincere hope is that exposure to the Word of God reveals how deeply He loves you and leads you to that most important decision you could ever make - to start a relationship with Jesus.

After 49 years on this Earth with varying degrees of commitment to living for God, I have decided that in my 50th year, I am going to give myself over fully to God’s will to follow wherever He leads. As a control freak, this is a very scary decision but I know that God is faithful and has big plans. As Romans 8:28 says “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” I pray that promise encourages you to live boldly for God in 2022 and beyond. Comment below to let me know how you’re planning to serve God’s will in the coming year. Happy New Year!
